Setting Up Swap Protect

  • Updated

Welcome to the Swap Protect Onboarding Guide. This guide will walk you through the process of integrating Swap Protect into your Shopify store.

Swap Protect is a powerful tool that allows you to offer package protection to your customers, providing them with a level of security they've come to expect from e-commerce platforms. This guide will cover everything from granting necessary permissions to implementing the Swap Protect widget on your store.

Step 1: Collaborator Access

To initiate Swap's work on your store, we'll require collaboration access.

To request access for collaboration on your store, locate your collaborator request code and review requests by following the steps below:

  1. In the bottom-left corner of your Shopify admin, click “Settings”.

  2. Click “Users and permissions”.

Step 2: Locate your “myshopify.com” URL

Swap will need your .myshopify.com URL. You can find your URL by following the steps below.

  1. Log in to your Shopify Admin.

  2. Click Settings in the bottom left-hand corner.

  3. The .myshopify.com URL is located at the top left. Your URL will likely look like storename.myshopify.com.

Step 3: Swap to Request Access

Our request will include permissions that are critical to the function of Swap Protect & the Swap product ecosystem. We will never ask for permissions that are not required for the functionality of our products.

Permissions requested:

Step 4: Approve Partnership Request

Once we request access to your store, you will receive an email from Shopify. This email will show a request from “Swap Commerce (Support).” You must accept this request to proceed with the widget installation.

Step 5: Protect Widget implementation

It is time to implement the Swap Protect Widget into your Theme. The Protect Widget is where customers will purchase Swap Protect to insure their packages. This widget will be visible to all your customers in the cart.

Swap will implement the widget on your Shopify theme. If you have a developer on staff, this would be the point at which to introduce them to our Swap Protect installation team. A collaborative approach ensures a faster and seamless integration of your store.

If you prefer installing the widget yourself or with your developer, follow this guide.

Step 6: Review your Swap Protect Widget

After implementing the Protect widget, you can access a preview from your Shopify Admin Dashboard via online store → theme → preview. This is located on the dashboard, not in settings.

Step 7: Upload Shopify Flow to convert Swap Protect to Digital product

Orders with the “Swap Protect” product will be marked as “unfulfilled” by default since it’s a digital item. If the rest of the order is fulfilled, it will result in a “partially fulfilled” status since the digital product has not yet been fulfilled. We can solve this by using Shopify Flow.

  2. Click on ‘Apps and sales channels’.

  3. Click on ‘Flow’.

  4. Click ‘Open app’ in the top right-hand corner.

  5. Click ‘Import’ in the top right-hand corner.

  6. Add the Flow template. Download the file below.
