The Returns Analytics Dashboard provides an overview of your returns and exchanges, offering insights to optimise your processes and improve customer satisfaction. Easy access to detailed metrics lets you make informed decisions to maximise revenue retention and improve overall business performance.
Using the Analytics Dashboard
The analytics dashboard provides an overview of your returns processed with Swap. The filter options allow you to filter through your data over a period of time. This data displays returns on orders created with Swap, not all of your returns on Shopify.
Filtering
- Shopify order date: Filter returns by creation date.
Key Indicators Tab
This tab provides a comprehensive view of important metrics, such as return ratios and retained revenue. By utilising this tab, you can gain deeper insights into return performance, helping you to make more informed decisions based on the data and trends observed.
Top Indicators
The "Top Indicators" section provides metrics on retained revenue, exchange revenue, and refunds. It includes details such as total retained revenue, the retained revenue ratio, exchange revenue and ratio, outstanding refunds owed, refunds paid out, and a graph showing retained revenue over time.
- Retained Revenue: This shows the total revenue retained after returns are processed.
- Retained Revenue Ratio: This percentage represents how much original revenue is kept after returns.
- Exchange Revenue: This displays the total revenue generated from product exchanges.
- Exchange Ratio: This percentage shows the portion of returns that are exchanged.
- Outstanding refunds owed to customers: Shows the total amount owed in refunds.
- Refunds paid out to customers: Displays the amount already refunded to customers.
- Retained revenue over time: This graph visualizes the retained revenue over a selected time period. You can observe trends, with peaks indicating high retained revenue days and valleys indicating lower retained revenue days.
Outcome Performance
This data displays how the various return outcomes are performing. This includes Exchange, Shop Now, and Shop Later Credits.
- Shop Now Revenue: This indicates the âShop Nowâ credit revenue.
- Shop Later Revenue: This shows the âShop Laterâ credit revenue.
- Refunded Revenue: This shows the total amount refunded to customers.
- Shop Now Ratio: This percentage indicates the portion of revenue from âShop Nowâ credit.
- Shop Later Ratio: This shows the portion of revenue from âShop Laterâ credit.
- Refund Ratio: This percentage represents the proportion of revenue that was refunded.
Orders and return types
This table provides detailed insights into different return types and their performance metrics, such as retained, refund, and exchange ratios.
Locations
This table offers insights based on the origin of return shipments, with metrics for the different countries.
Shipping Statuses
This table provides a detailed view of shipments' statuses, including label-created, failed, no-status, delivered, and in-transit.
Shipping Carriers
This table displays metrics for different shipping carriers, including retained, refund, and exchange ratios per shipping carrier.
Return Reasons Tab
This tab allows you to analyse trends in returned items over various periods and understand the reasons behind those returns. You can identify patterns, such as which products are most frequently returned and customers' common reasons, allowing for a more comprehensive understanding of return behaviours.
Top Graphs
This section provides an overview of returns, products, and returned items with total counts and line graphs showing monthly trends for each category.
Returns:

- A line graph showing the return trend over several months.
Returned Items:
- A total count of items that were returned.
- A line graph showing the returned items trend over several months.
Most Returned Items and Top Reasons for Returning
This section lists the products returned the most, including images, names, and return counts for each item. It also lists the primary reasons customers return items, along with the number of returns attributed to each reason.
Top Reasons for Returning:
- A list of the primary reasons why customers are returning items.
- Each reason is accompanied by the number of returns attributed to it.
Returned Items per Country
This table shows how many items were returned from each shipmentâs origin country. âShipment From Address Countryâ displays the country code, and âQuantityâ indicates how many items were sent back from that location.
Most Returned Items:
- A list of products that have been returned the most.
- Each item has an image, name, and the number of times it has been returned.
Products Returned
This table offers a quick, item-by-item breakdown of each returned product. It includes the date the order was placed, a product image, product name, the quantity returned, and unique IDs (Swap ID, Return ID) for easy tracking. The âReason Key Wordâ and âSub Reasonâ columns summarise why customers are returning each item.
